Why Your Ex Drifted Away (Inspirational Post)

Why Your Ex Drifted Away (Inspirational Post)

Please read this quote:

“Lots of things can be fixed. Things can be fixed. But many times, relationships between people cannot be fixed, because they should not be fixed. You’re aboard a ship setting sail, and the other person has joined the inland circus, or is boarding a different ship, and you just can’t be with each other anymore. Because you shouldn’t be.”
― C. JoyBell C.

What this describes is the phenomenon of “drifting apart”.

How is it even possible to “drift apart” when you were once so close?

How is it possible that in one minute you are on the same path and in the next your Ex-Partner joins the circus while you are forced to embark on a voyage to nowhere?

I once told you that breakups are escalated incompatibilities that ruptured the relationship.

We have begun our journey together, and maybe all our values, goals, and outlook on life have aligned. We were happy, felt fulfilled.

Somewhere along the way things have changed. And they changed to an extent that the breakup had to happen.

Whose fault is that?

Exactly, nobody’s fault.

Is that a bad thing?

It sure feels that way.

Try this with me:

I want you to close your eyes and imagine that you are standing on a deck of an old ship. Maybe those they had 300 years ago?

You are watching the shore that is slowly fading away.

You know that your Ex is there somewhere, starting a new life, following their bliss.

Yes, you feel sad about it, but also there’s this weird excitement. The excitement of the unknown.

Where will I go?
What will I find?
Who will I become?

All you know while the shore disappears is that you WILL be okay.

And THAT is the way I want you to look at this breakup.

Not as something that happened TO you, but something that happened FOR you.

Something that forced you on a voyage towards a better life.

A life that will show you nothing but wonders.

Open your eyes now and decide to start.

Today.
